Job summary

Chord Energy in downtown Houston is seeking an experienced Joint Interest Billing (JIB) and Accounts Receivable accountant to join the JIB/AR group in the Operations Accounting Department. The role reports to the Accounting Supervisor and offers a hybrid work schedule with remote Mondays and Fridays.

Key duties include processing monthly JIB, rebills, aging receivable review, applying cash, journal entries, reconciliations, SOX controls, audits, and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related degree.
• 8 years of oil and gas accounting experience.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to create and/or improve processes.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Understanding of US GAAP and experience in GAAP accounting research.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Strong time management & multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly Joint Interest Billing process.
• Process monthly working interest changes and rebills.
• Review and resolve working interest owner aging receivable balances.
• Apply cash received to outstanding accounts receivables.
• Address owner inquiries related to receivable balances.
• Prepare and record journal entries for monthly close.
• Prepare account reconciliations.
• Identify and assist in implementation of process improvement projects.
• Train and mentor less experienced team members.
• Handle and/or assist with special projects or other accounting related assignments as requested.
• Maintain SOX controls, policies and procedures related to specific job duties.
• Coordinate and lead external audit/internal audit/legal/business development requests, as needed.

Level and salary commensurate with experience.
