Qualifications

• 15 years of experience with Java.
• 10 years of experience with SQL databases.
• 8 years of experience sustaining and developing large applications in a team environment.
• 5 years of experience with Linux.
• 8 years of experience with the Atlassian tool suite, especially JIRA.
• 8 years of experience with Agile methodology.
• 2 years of experience with State of Texas applications, including experience within the Texas Department of Public Safety environment.
• 2 years of experience transitioning applications from legacy mainframe environments to a Java/SQL environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee coding, testing, and debugging of programs based on requirements; oversee test data preparation.
• Oversee development of flowcharts and diagrams.
• Oversee preparation of instructions for production runs and coordinate end-user manuals.
• Lead and coordinate research and analysis for proposals, software and system modifications, and new projects.
• Analyze proposed applications, evaluate database schemas, write and run SQL code, and deploy packages and triggers.
• Review and revise programs to increase efficiency or adopt new procedures.
• Analyze logs, system messages, memory, I/O, and disk space to troubleshoot issues.
• Coordinate scheduling of work and programming projects with staff.
• Develop standards and procedures for programming staff, interfaces, and reports.
• Implement specialized programs to supplement and enhance systems software and recommend changes to improve performance.
