Job summary

IAMUS Consulting seeks a skilled Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement Java-based software for complex systems. You will work with a small, dynamic team and apply cutting-edge AI agent technologies to multi-file features and tests.

The role requires a TS/SCI clearance, 5+ years in software engineering, and the ability to operate in a hybrid model with on-site work at Fort Meade, MD and Columbia, MD. Strong Java, APIs, and microservices experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Clearance: Active TS/SCI; U.S. Citizenship required.
• At least 5 years in Software Engineering; 3 years with a Masters; or 9 years with HS Diploma.
• Experience designing enterprise APIs.
• Experience with RESTful web services.
• Experience with Microservices architecture.
• Proficient in OOP and agile software lifecycle.
• Experience with Git, Nexus, Maven.
• Comfortable on Linux command line.
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently or in a team.
• Hybrid work: on-site Fort Meade, MD and Columbia, MD as required.

Responsibilities

• Must have strong knowledge and experience developing Java-based software capabilities.
• Inquisitive, responsive, and excellent testing skills.
• Strong troubleshooting skills; ability to handle multiple deadlines under pressure.
• Keep up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in software development.
• Experience integrating AI agents (Claude Code or Gemini) into daily engineering workflows.
• Agentic feature delivery: using autonomous agents for multi-file implementations and automated tests.
• Guide AI agents through complex multi-repo architectures; audit code for security and architecture.
• Work in a fast-paced, small business environment with the team.
• Additional duties as assigned.
