Job summary

Allstate Insurance Co. seeks a Product Engineer (Java) Senior Consultant to design, develop, test, and deliver secure software solutions. You will apply XP practices in an Agile setting, mentor junior engineers, and help maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable deployments.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet business needs, write clean code, and contribute to production support and knowledge sharing across the organization.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience hands‑on with Java/J2EE.
• 1+ year applying TDD and XP in Agile environments.
• Strong CS concepts and OOP design principles.
• CI/CD and DevOps tooling such as IntelliJ, GitHub, Jenkins, SonarQube, Gradle, or Maven.
• Proficiency with testing tools such as Postman, Bruno, or SoapUI.
• Experience with quality and security scanning tools like Sonar, Fortify, or Contrast.
• Knowledge of messaging systems such as Kafka or similar.
• Ability to write clean, secure code with debugging and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Participate in iteration planning to align on user stories and backlog items.
• Engage in daily standups and practice TDD/XP within Agile teams.
• Contribute to retrospectives to identify process or product improvements.
• Collaborate in designing systems and applications meeting technical and business requirements.
• Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices.
• Provide production support for software products in user environments.
• Serve as SME within a business domain and mentor teams across forums.
• Share knowledge and contribute to technical growth of the team.
• Coach junior engineers on software development best practices.
