Job summary

Allstate is seeking a Product Engineer (Java), Senior Consultant to design, develop, test and deliver secure software solutions. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and mentoring junior engineers will be a key part of this role.

You will apply XP practices, TDD, paired programming, and CI/CD to build scalable systems and provide production support. Strong Java/J2EE skills and a solid CS foundation are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience developing software using Java/J2EE.
• 1+ year applying Test Driven Development (TDD) and Extreme Programming (XP) in an Agile environment.
• Strong understanding of CS concepts and object-oriented design.

Responsibilities

• Participate in iteration planning to align on user stories and backlog items.
• Engage in daily standups and practice paired programming and TDD as part of daily work.
• Contribute to retrospectives by identifying opportunities for process or product improvement.
• Collaborate in designing systems and applications meeting technical and business requirements.
• Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices.
• Provide production support for software products in user environments.
• Serve as a SME within a business domain and mentor teams across forums.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers on software development practices and XP methodologies.
