Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Sr. Java Full Stack Engineer to lead the design and development of next-generation electronic trading systems. This remote, W2 contract role focuses on low-latency, high-throughput platforms and on-call support.

The candidate will architect distributed systems, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to enhance performance, scalability, and resilience. Requires 10+ years in software design and experience with Java, Python, and Linux.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 10+ years of software design and development experience.
• Experience with capital markets or brokerage systems, especially order management.
• Proficiency with FIX protocol and FIX engines.
• Hands-on skills in Java, Python, and Linux; low-latency messaging systems such as Kafka or 29West.
• Knowledge of distributed, asynchronous, event-driven applications.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and cloud deployments (AWS).

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop distributed, event-driven trading systems optimized for low latency and high throughput.
• Design asynchronous processing frameworks and resilient messaging services.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver robust, end-to-end trading workflows.
• Lead performance tuning and optimization efforts across the platform.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Support production and non-production environments, including weekly on-call rotations.
