Job summary

Eliassen Group seeks a Sr. Java Full Stack Engineer to lead design and development of next-generation electronic trading systems.

This remote contract role focuses on low-latency, high-throughput platforms and distributed architectures while mentoring engineers and driving platform performance. You will collaborate across teams, support production and non-production environments, and participate in weekly on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on software design and development experience.
• Expertise in Java, Python, and Linux.
• Deep experience with low latency messaging systems such as Kafka.
• Proficiency with time-series databases like KDB+.
• Background in building scalable, distributed, asynchronous, and event-driven applications.
• Knowledge of FIX protocol and FIX engines.
• Experience with Capital Markets or Brokerage systems, especially order management.
• CI/CD tooling including GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, Artifactory, and uDeploy.
• Hands-on experience deploying applications to AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop distributed, event-driven trading systems optimized for low latency and high throughput.
• Design and implement asynchronous processing frameworks and resilient messaging services.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver robust, end-to-end trading workflows.
• Lead performance tuning and optimization efforts across the platform.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Support production and non-production environments, including participation in a weekly on-call rotation.
