Job summary

Global Payments is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join Team Kerfuffle on the VAP Global Ecommerce platform. You will design and implement scalable software, leveraging Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Product, Platform, and Merchant Services, and working in an Agile environment. The position is hybrid (3 days/week) in Atlanta, GA, not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of relevant Java software engineering experience.
• Strong SQL and database design skills; ability to write efficient queries.
• Ability to translate business goals into technical solutions and deadlines.
• Experience with financial systems, payments infrastructure, or high-volume transactional systems.
• Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs and event-driven systems using Java/Spring Boot.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test software for scalability and reliability in a high-volume platform.
• Collaborate with Product, Platform, Merchant Services to convert requirements into solutions.
• Apply Agile practices: pair programming and test-driven development to ensure quality.
• Deploy features into production with minimal downtime and no impact to current customers.
• Develop and maintain microservices as part of platform modernization.
• Build monitoring and resilient systems to ensure availability and auditability.
