Job summary

Kunai, part of the PwC Network, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to a high-impact digital payments modernization program. You will work across scalable backend services and performance testing while shaping cloud-native architectures for a major card network integration in the United States.

You will collaborate with backend engineers, participate in architectural discussions, and help migrate legacy systems to modern OpenShift/Kubernetes environments, with a focus on reliability

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, primarily in Java.
• Strong working knowledge of relational databases – Oracle and/or PostgreSQL.
• Experience deploying and operating services in containerized environments (OpenShift, Kubernetes, or equivalent).
• Familiarity with legacy enterprise application servers – Tomcat and/or WebSphere experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend services for card network integration.
• Contribute to performance testing, profiling, and bottleneck resolution.
• Migrate and modernize services to cloud-native environments (OpenShift/Kubernetes).
• Collaborate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and cross-team planning.
