Job summary

Santander Consumer USA Inc. seeks a Senior Java Developer to lead design, development, and maintenance of enterprise software supporting key business units. This hands-on role requires autonomy and deep technical expertise across systems.

You will mentor developers, estimate effort, and drive performance improvements while collaborating with architects, product owners, and stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-availability solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military service, or education.
• 9+ years of hands-on Java development in a distributed system.
• Strong proficiency in Java and backend development with experience in financial services preferred.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring JPA, REST APIs, service-oriented architectures, and microservices.
• Familiarity with cloud concepts, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), TDD, and DDD.

Responsibilities

• Act as a senior hands-on developer across multiple complex application initiatives.
• Lead design, development, and maintenance of complex software applications and components.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for applications, systems, and performance issues.
• Design, implement, and support system enhancements, refactoring, and modernization efforts.
• Mentor and guide associate and mid-level developers; help plan delivery milestones.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to achieve key objectives.
