Santander Holdings USA Inc. is seeking a Senior Java Developer to be a hands-on contributor across complex enterprise initiatives.

You will analyze, design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain software solutions with a high degree of autonomy and influence on architecture and delivery plans. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in CS or related field and at least nine years of hands-on experience, including advanced Java, Spring Boot, and distributed systems.

About The Role

Santander Holdings USA Inc. is seeking a Senior Java Developer to serve as a hands-on technical contributor across complex application initiatives. In this role, you will analyze, design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise software solutions that support key business areas. You will apply deep technical expertise, work with a high degree of autonomy, and contribute to architectural decisions and delivery plans. Success requires sound judgment, strong problem-solving skills, accurate effort estimates, and the ability to communicate technical challenges and solutions clearly to a range of stakeholders.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is required, or equivalent professional experience.


• Candidates should have at least nine years of hands-on application development experience, including advanced Java skills and experience building distributed systems.


• Experience developing backend and frontend applications is valued.


• You should bring practical knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring JPA, REST APIs, service-oriented and microservices architectures, cloud computing concepts, test-driven development, and domain-driven design.


• Strong SQL and relational database skills are required, as is familiarity with Jenkins-based CI/CD pipelines.


• Candidates must understand secure coding practices and be able to design and troubleshoot large-scale, highly available systems.


• Experience with scalable, performance-critical applications is desirable.


• Additional qualifications include strong analytical and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple initiatives and shift between priorities, and a commitment to improving existing systems and applying current engineering standards.


• Curiosity about emerging technologies and experience using AI tools are also relevant.


• Equivalent experience, training, military service, or education may demonstrate the required capabilities.
