Job summary

Santander Holdings USA Inc. is seeking a Senior Java Developer to be a hands-on contributor across complex enterprise initiatives.

You will analyze, design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain software solutions with a high degree of autonomy and influence on architecture and delivery plans. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in CS or related field and at least nine years of hands-on experience, including advanced Java, Spring Boot, and distributed systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• 9+ years of hands-on application development with advanced Java and distributed systems.
• Backend and frontend development experience valued.
• Practical knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring JPA, REST APIs, microservices, cloud, TDD, and DDD.
• Strong SQL and relational DB skills; familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Secure coding practices and ability to design highly available systems.
• Experience with scalable, performance-critical applications.
• Analytical and communication skills; capable of juggling multiple initiatives.
• Curiosity about emerging tech and AI tools.
• Equivalent experience or education may qualify.
• Authorized to work full time in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical analysis, design, development, and maintenance for complex applications and software components.
• Investigate difficult application, system, and performance issues; recommend and implement effective solutions.
• Design and support enhancements, refactoring, and modernization efforts, while evaluating options for monitoring, tuning, scalability, and system configuration.
• Build and maintain automated test suites and promote sound quality assurance practices.
• Contribute to technical designs and architectural decisions, estimate work, identify risks, and help establish delivery milestones.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to meet shared objectives.
• Provide technical guidance to associate and mid-level developers, encourage engineering best practices, and support continuous improvement across the team.
