Job summary

Moniepoint Inc. is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to join our NYC-area team. You will build high-performance backend services using Java and Spring Boot, collaborating with product, design, and QA to deliver impactful features.

You’ll design RESTful APIs, scale distributed systems, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, with a strong emphasis on reliability and testability. This role offers competitive compensation and benefits, including health insurance and learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of professional backend software development.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot expertise.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficient in relational databases and ORM (Hibernate).
• Exposure to frontend technologies (React) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, QA) to conceptualize, design, and deliver high-impact features.
• Architect and build scalable, high-performance backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Produce clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with a strong emphasis on reliability and testability.
• Seamlessly integrate third-party services and APIs, ensuring robust error handling and graceful degradation.
• Continuously enhance system performance and developer experience through thoughtful automation and refactoring.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues across the stack while proactively identifying opportunities for technical improvements.
• Actively contribute to code reviews and architecture discussions, promoting engineering best practices across the team.
• Maintain clear documentation of technical decisions, systems, and processes to support transparency and long-term scalability.
