Job summary

Randstad Digital Americas is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Java / AWS) to join a core engineering delivery team within a major national passenger transportation organization's Corporate & Operations Technologies division. In this role, you will design, build, and support cloud-native enterprise integrations and transaction-processing services that power critical operational systems.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Java (Java 17+), Spring Boot, and Python.
• Extensive hands-on AWS experience (ECS/Fargate, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch).
• Relational DB experience with PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL; schema design and query tuning.
• CI/CD and IaC experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, CloudFormation.
• Unit and integration testing with JUnit and Mockito.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain scalable microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures using Java 17+ and AWS services.
• Architect multi-region, fault-tolerant solutions with robust disaster recovery.
• Investigate production incidents, perform RCA, and enhance observability with CloudWatch.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CodePipeline and IaC with CloudFormation.
• Model relational data and optimize queries on PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Provide mentorship and enforce automated testing standards (JUnit, Mockito).
