Job summary

Aether Biomedical seeks a senior backend engineer to develop and maintain payment and merchant wallet microservices in a remote setup. You will build robust payment flows, integrate with external operators, and ensure data consistency and security across financial processes.

Ideal candidates have deep Java experience (Java 17+), Spring Boot, Kafka, and a solid grasp of Clean Architecture and DDD. Remote work with B2B contract is supported.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of commercial Java experience.
• Strong knowledge of Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Practical production experience with Apache Kafka.
• Good SQL and PostgreSQL, database migrations and transactions.
• Experience with unit and integration tests, including Testcontainers.
• Knowledge of contract tests.
• Practical knowledge of Clean Architecture / Hexagonal Architecture and DDD.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD.
• Ability to design REST APIs / OpenAPI.
• Familiarity with Gradle or Maven.

Responsibilities

• Develop microservices responsible for payments and merchant prepaid wallets: accounts, balances, charges, credits, and transaction history.
• Build payment processing, top-ups, refunds, and integrations with external payment operators.
• Advance invoicing processes and SAP integration.
• Create reporting systems for merchants.
• Design and develop REST API / Kafka integrations and asynchronous processes.
• Participate in migrating older services to Clean/Hexagonal Architecture.
• Create ADRs and architectural documentation.
• Write and maintain unit, integration, and contract tests.
• Work with Helm, GitLab CI and GitOps environments.
• Participate in code reviews, estimations and support production systems on-call.
