Job summary

SSi People in the United States is seeking a Senior Java Developer to support a payment-focused technology team by designing and maintaining microservices that connect multiple backend systems. This role focuses on building reliable APIs and scalable services for end-to-end user experiences.

You will collaborate with frontend teams, optimize performance, and ensure security and resiliency using Spring Boot, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes. Prior payments domain experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong experience building and integrating microservices with Java/Spring Boot.

• Solid understanding of event-driven architecture with Kafka.

Job Title: Senior Java Developer

Job Summary: We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to support a payment-focused technology team by designing and maintaining microservices that connect multiple backend systems. This position will play a key role in building reliable APIs, improving service resilience, and helping deliver seamless end-to-end user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain inner and orchestration microservices that integrate multiple backend systems to support payment capabilities.
• Develop and enhance API layers and service-to-service interactions to enable secure, scalable, and reliable data aggregation.
• Collaborate with front-end and business partners to integrate user interface components and support seamless end-to-end workflows.
• Troubleshoot production issues, optimize performance, and improve resiliency and fault tolerance across distributed services.

Required

• 6-8 years of experience required.
• Strong experience building and integrating microservices; Spring Boot and Java are preferred.
• Hands‑on experience with backend service design for complex domains, including APIs, orchestration, and service-to-service communication.
• Solid understanding of event‑driven architecture, with Kafka or a similar messaging platform.
• Experience with containerization and deployment using Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Experience with API design and integration patterns, secure APIs, contract‑first design, enterprise authentication and authorization patterns such as CIAM, OAuth, and JWT, and UI development experience with Angular or similar for front‑end integration.
• Experience working with distributed systems, including resiliency, scaling, fault tolerance, debugging, and performance tuning; financial services or payments platform experience, payroll integrations, familiarity with enterprise data platforms, CI/CD, feature toggles, Agile delivery, observability tools, and large‑scale enterprise environments are preferred.
