Job summary

Cullerton Group seeks a Senior Java/AWS Backend Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable backend and cloud-based applications. The role emphasizes Java development, AWS cloud technologies, APIs, databases, microservices, and CI/CD in an Agile/Scrum environment.

The engineer will work on complex software modules, perform system integrations, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate through code reviews. Hybrid work with 2 days onsite in Peoria/Chicago.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• 8+ years of Java application development.
• 3+ years of AWS/cloud development experience.
• Experience designing, developing, deploying at scale.
• Relational and NoSQL databases experience.
• CI/CD tools knowledge (Jenkins/Azure DevOps).
• Strong CS fundamentals, data structures, algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain complex Java-based backend applications.
• Develop scalable cloud solutions using AWS services (ECS, Lambda, Fargate, S3).
• Design and integrate RESTful APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, relational/NoSQL databases.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, code reviews, testing and deployments.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and mentor team members.
