Job summary

Diversified Services Network, Inc. (DSN) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Java/AWS to join our team in Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL. The role offers a hybrid work model with two onsite days per week, strong benefits, PTO, 401k, and opportunities at a Fortune 100 company.

You will work under the Software Engineering Manager on mobile, web, cloud, and server systems, delivering new programs and maintaining existing ones with a focus on scalable Java/AWS solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or EE with 8+ years of related experience.
• Master's degree with 6+ years of related experience.
• Extensive Java-based software development at scale.
• 3+ years AWS, including CloudFormation, ECS, Lambda, S3; IAM mastery.
• Experience using Generative AI tools in software development.
• 3+ years deploying software with cloud tech (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Relational and NoSQL database experience.
• Familiar with MVC, Microservices, and event-driven patterns.
• CI/CD experience with Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Batch/stream processing with SQS, SNS, or Kinesis.
• Designing well-defined RESTful APIs.
• Swagger, Postman, Assertible for API tooling.
• TDD/BDD practiced in projects.
• Selenium/Cucumber testing integrated into CI/CD.
• Datastores: DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, Elasticsearch, MySQL, Oracle.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures and algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Perform programming, development, integration, and system admin tasks with minimal supervision.
• Design, code, test, and debug high-complexity Java applications.
• Configure and customize high-complexity purchased software solutions.
• Provide leadership and guidance on projects and technical tasks.
• Handle complex problem identification and weekend support as needed.
• Work independently on cross-program modules used across systems.
• Develop major system modules and infrastructure releases from requirements.
• Plan and execute integrated testing and customer acceptance testing.
• Coordinate integration of in-house and vendor solutions; assist customers with docs and training.
• Maintain knowledge of programming languages, design, and testing standards.
