Job summary

Zohorecruit in Chicago, IL seeks an IT Software Engineer 5 (Sr. Java Backend Developer with AWS) for a 12-month contract. You will design, develop, test and deploy backend services on AWS, using microservices architecture, and lead a small development team.

The role requires 10–15 years of experience, strong Java/Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, cloud deployments, and Agile delivery. Hybrid work up to 2x per week; on-site in Chicago, with interviews conducted virtually then onsite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field with 8+ years of experience.
• Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience; without degree, 10+ years experience.
• Experience in Java17 or higher and Spring Boot RESTful API development.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend RESTful API web services using Microservices architecture.
• Mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and provide technical leadership.
• Lead cross-functional Agile teams to deliver valuable business features.
• Guide structured code and documentation; promote best practices.
