Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking an Industrial Wastewater Treatment (IWT) Process Engineer to manage, support, and enhance SAS IWT operations. You will monitor performance, analyze trends, prepare reports, and develop work packages for upgrades and maintenance of IWT systems, addressing mechanical and process issues.

You’ll collaborate with O&M teams and customers, own project scopes from commissioning through startup, and mentor junior engineers on commissioning best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in related Engineering field.
• Four years of experience in a relevant field required.
• Working knowledge of water/wastewater operations such as biological nutrient removal, ultrafiltration, dewatering, clarification, ion exchange, reverse osmosis, thermal evaporation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and support operators, technicians, and the business by working closely with the O&M team and customers to develop, drive, and execute process improvements.
• Execute complete ownership and accountability of assigned transfer and/or treatment system scope and projects, including commissioning and startup phases.
• Review, refine, and execute system commissioning and startup plans, demonstrating expertise in mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
• Monitor daily trends, perform equipment inspections, and coordinate with Operations and Maintenance teams on work orders, process improvement projects, and commissioning/start-up activities.
• Proactively troubleshoot critical IWT system issues, especially those related to site drain quality, during routine operations and commissioning phases.
• Support instrumentation, maintenance, and operations groups in day-to-day tasks and commissioning activities.
• Interface effectively with internal customers during commissioning and startup meetings to manage expectations and gather feedback.
• Coach and mentor less experienced engineers to share knowledge, experience, and skills, including commissioning best practices.

Position Summary

The WTR Process Engineering team is dedicated to fully managing, maintaining, supporting, and enhancing operations at SAS. The Industrial Wastewater Treatment (IWT) Process Engineer will be accountable for ensuring the safety of the work environment for the team and all stakeholders. This role includes monitoring system performance, conducting trend analyses, and preparing reports related to sustaining operations, maintenance, and process/equipment improvements. Additionally, the engineer will prepare work packages for upgrades and maintenance of the IWT systems and assist with comprehensive troubleshooting of IWT plant issues, encompassing both mechanical and process breakdowns. Furthermore, the engineer will evaluate process requirements and specifications for all WTR systems.

The current base salary range for this role is between $106,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
