Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Water & Wastewater Process Engineer to own and advance UPW and industrial wastewater reclamation systems at our Taylor site. You will lead equipment ownership, maintenance, and continuous improvement across UPW and IWT facilities to deliver safe, high-quality utilities.

The role emphasizes technical oversight, trend analysis, and collaboration with Operations, Instrumentation, and Maintenance teams to drive operational excellence and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Process or Industrial Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in an Engineering environment, preferably within Design or Operations.
• Working knowledge of general water treatment technologies and/or processes.
• Advanced knowledge of ultrapure water treatment and industrial wastewater reclamation systems.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the UPW system end-to-end as a single team.
• Own and manage wastewater transfer and treatment equipment.
• Update drain mapping tools, drain forecasting, and change control procedures.
• Coordinate cross-functional maintenance and operations activities with other engineers and technicians.
• Maintain a safe work environment for the team and stakeholders.
• Improve system performance through trend analysis and site walks.
• Research, test and implement major upgrades for UPW quality, reliability or safety.
• Ensure process requirements and equipment specs are up to date for UPW systems.
• Communicate with supervisor and technical lead on technical issues and support.
• Lead critical projects supporting UPW / IWT improvements.

Position Summary

Guided by a belief in extensive data analysis and a commitment to collaborative global relationships, the WTR (Water Treatment and Reclamation) is responsible for providing continuous, safe and high quality utilities to our Fab. At our water and wastewater plants on the Samsung Semiconductor campus, our Operations teams’ drive for sustainability and operational excellence is balanced by our need to adopt tomorrow’s technologies to ensure plant resilience, environmental stewardship, and the safety of our staff.

The UPW (Ultra-pure Water) and Industrial Wastewater Treatment (IWT) Engineering team is a cohesive group of engineers focused on comprehensively owning, maintaining, supporting, and improving the UPW plants and industrial wastewater reclamation facility in Taylor. As a system owner and critical team member of UPW or IWT Engineering, the Water & Wastewater Process Engineer leads the ownership, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the site’s UPW and IWT systems. The position combines technical oversight—such as trend analysis and technology upgrades—with the coordination of cross-functional maintenance and operational activities. The ultimate goal of the role is to ensure the delivery of safe, continuous, and high-quality utilities while upholding strict safety and environmental standards.

Role And Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Practice full ownership and accountability for the entire UPW system, accepting that we function as one team, failing or succeeding together.
• Demonstrate full ownership and accountability for wastewater transfer and treatment equipment, accepting that we function as one team, failing or succeeding together.
• Continually evaluate and update drain mapping tools, drain forecasting, and drain change control procedures for wastewater systems.
• Coordinate cross-functional operations and maintenance activities with Operations, Instrumentation, and Maintenance engineers and technicians, fostering strong collaborative relationships toward the mission of operational excellence.
• Ensure that a safe work environment is maintained for yourself, the team and all stakeholders.
• Monitor and improve your system performance through trend analysis, field walks, reporting, and incremental operational improvements.
• Research, develop, test and implement major technology upgrade projects that improve UPW’s quality, reliability and/or safety.
• Continually evaluate and update process requirements, quality parameters, and equipment specifications of all UPW systems.
• Sustain transparent and frequent communication with your supervisor (TR) / manager and technical lead (TL) on any technical water analysis, support, and supply/quality issues.
• Lead and execute on critical projects that support operations and UPW / IWT improvements.

Required Education And Experience

• B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Process or Industrial Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in an Engineering environment, preferably within Design or Operations.
• Working knowledge of general water treatment technologies and/or processes.
• Advanced knowledge of ultrapure water treatment and industrial wastewater reclamation systems.

Preferred Education And Experience

• 10+ years of experience in a Facilities Engineering and / or Process Engineering.
• Design, Construction, Commissioning and Start-up experience preferred.
• Professional Engineering License a plus.
• PMP Certification a plus.

The current base salary range for this role is between $106,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
