Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor seeks an Industrial Wastewater Treatment (IWT) Process Engineer to ensure safe, reliable operation of WTR systems. You will monitor performance, analyze trends, prepare reports, and support upgrades and troubleshooting across IWT processes and equipment.

You will own project scope through commissioning/startup, collaborate with O&M and customers, and mentor less experienced engineers in commissioning best practices.

Position Summary

The WTR Process Engineering team is dedicated to fully managing, maintaining, supporting, and enhancing operations at SAS. The Industrial Wastewater Treatment (IWT) Process Engineer will be accountable for ensuring the safety of the work environment for the team and all stakeholders. This role includes monitoring system performance, conducting trend analyses, and preparing reports related to sustaining operations, maintenance, and process/equipment improvements. Additionally, the engineer will prepare work packages for upgrades and maintenance of the IWT systems and assist with comprehensive troubleshooting of IWT plant issues, encompassing both mechanical and process breakdowns. Furthermore, the engineer will evaluate process requirements and specifications for all WTR systems.

Role and Responsibilities

Here's What You'll Be Responsible For:

• Collaborate and support our operators, technicians, and the business by working closely with the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team and our customers to develop, drive, and execute process improvements.


• Execute complete ownership and accountability of assigned transfer and/or treatment system scope and projects, including the commissioning and start-up phases.


• Review, refine, and execute system commissioning and startup plans, demonstrating expertise in mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.


• Monitor daily trends, perform equipment inspections, and coordinate with Operations and Maintenance teams on work orders, process improvement projects, and commissioning and start-up activities.


• Proactively troubleshoot critical IWT system issues, especially those related to site drain quality, during both routine operations and commissioning phases.


• Support instrumentation, maintenance, and operations groups in day-to-day tasks and commissioning activities.


• Interface effectively and confidently with internal customers, including during commissioning and startup meetings, to manage expectations and gather feedback.


• Coach and mentor less experienced engineers to share your knowledge, experience, and skills, including commissioning best practices.

Skills and Qualifications

Here's What You'll need:

• Bachelor of Science degree in related Engineering field.


• Working knowledge of water/wastewater operations such as biological nutrient removal, ultrafiltration, dewatering, clarification, ion exchange, reverse osmosis, thermal evaporation.

The current base salary range for this role is between $106,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
