AtkinsRéalis USA Inc. seeks a Senior ITS Engineer to support Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise in Orlando, delivering toll roadway and transportation technology projects from concept through final design and construction support.

The role requires applying ITS/traffic engineering expertise in a client-facing setting, coordinating design activities, and guiding technical decisions across multidisciplinary teams while working onsite with the client’s staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or electrical engineering.
• 8+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years FDOT ITS design.
• PE license in Florida or eligible for Florida registration within 6 months.
• Working knowledge of the FDOT Design Manual, FDOT Design Standards, FDOT Traffic Engineering Manual, MUTCD and related criteria.
• Experience with toll facilities and express or managed lanes preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office, MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Strong technical writing, presentation, listening and interpersonal skills; able to lead meetings.
• Ability to travel within Florida, including occasional overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Apply ITS and traffic engineering experience in a client-facing environment, coordinating design activities and guiding technical decisions.
• Develop and evaluate communications systems connecting field devices with traffic management centers.
• Coordinate, manage and review ITS design plans, specifications, and related documentation.
• Prepare construction quantities, cost estimates and staff-hour estimates for ITS work.
• Perform field investigations to document existing ITS facilities and site conditions.
• Support construction-phase services including shop drawing reviews and RFIs.
• Coordinate schedules and technical work across project teams and disciplines.
• Represent the client in meetings, communicate direction and document outcomes.
