Job summary

AtkinsRéalis seeks an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Systems Engineer to join our team in Tallahassee, Florida. You will support planning, design, implementation, operation, and lifecycle management of statewide ITS systems and related communications infrastructure.

You will collaborate with client staff, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, reliable solutions for complex field environments, covering power, networking, and field device deployments across ITS

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering (ABET-accredited).
EI or EIT certification required; PE licensure preferred.
2–5 years of relevant engineering experience.
Strong technical writing, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with CAD, MicroStation, Visio, network diagramming preferred.
Experience with ITS engineering, traffic engineering, transportation technology, traffic operations, or ITS deployment required.

Responsibilities

Support planning, design, implementation, operation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of statewide ITS systems and communications infrastructure.
Design and develop communications and networking solutions for roadway ITS deployments and field device connectivity.
Apply ITS architectures and transportation technology knowledge to develop practical engineering solutions.
Prepare engineering plans, technical specifications, scopes of work, layouts, and documentation for ITS projects.
Support projects involving fiber optic, microwave, Ethernet/IP networks, traffic signal communications, CCTV, DMS, RWIS, and related ITS technologies.
Support electrical power systems, shelters, HVAC, UPS, generators, and access control systems.
Conduct engineering investigations, site reviews, and technical evaluations to support deployments and improvements.
Evaluate infrastructure against codes, standards, and client requirements to develop cost-effective solutions.
Prepare studies, memos, system requirements, specifications, permits, cost estimates, and labor-hour estimates.
Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
