Job summary

GFT seeks a Senior Project Manager / Principal ITS Engineer to join our Transportation Team in New York City or Woodbury. This hybrid role requires regular on-site presence in one of the offices.

You will lead ITS and traffic engineering delivery for projects across New York State and New England, mentoring staff, guiding design from concept to construction, and fostering client relationships to expand GFT's market position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil/electrical/transportation preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York required.
• 15+ years in ITS/traffic with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong client relationship and proposals/pursuits experience.
• Leadership and mentoring across disciplines.
• Familiarity with NYSDOT/NYC transportation agencies; ITS systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead ITS, tolling and traffic engineering projects from small to large multi-discipline efforts.
• Direct design through preliminary/final design, specs, estimates and construction documents.
• Provide client-facing leadership to align with client expectations and standards.
• Develop client relationships to support proposals and business development.
• Mentor staff and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams for technical excellence.
• Guide engineering design services from concept to construction.
• Oversee field engineering and testing of ITS systems.
