Job Description:

As a Hardware System Administrator on an Enterprise Zero Trust Program for a DoD client, your responsibilities will include:

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining various hardware components, including servers, workstations, network devices, and storage systems.

  • Ensuring that software applications are installed and maintained correctly, including operating systems, security software, and other related applications.

  • Identifying and resolving hardware and software issues, including diagnosing problems with network connectivity, server performance, and application failures.

  • Implementing and maintaining security measures, such as firewalls, anti-virus software, and intrusion detection systems, to protect the organization's network and data.

  • Monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing optimization measures to ensure optimal system efficiency.

  • Implementing and maintaining backup and recovery procedures to protect data from loss or damage, ensuring that data can be restored in case of system failures.

  • Providing technical support to users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, answering questions, and offering training.

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of hardware configurations, software installations, and system procedures.

  • Ensuring that all hardware and software licenses are valid and compliant with relevant regulations.

  • Assessing current and future hardware needs, ensuring that there is sufficient capacity to meet the organization's requirements.

  • Working with vendors to procure new hardware, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that hardware meets the organization's needs.

  • Staying abreast of advancements in hardware technology and materials.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience with a broad range of hardware, software, and operating systems as a system administrator

  • Firm understanding of installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware-based systems, (i.e. NetApp, VMware ESXi, Dell, HP, Cisco, Palo Alto, Gigamon, Juniper, etc.)

  • Experience in a large, high availability complex IT environment providing industry and government recognized functional expertise.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the change management procedures for IT Operations

  • Ability to work with other teams to promote changes to production and other environments.

  • Familiarity with the Zero Trust Network Architecture and associated security stacks

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Current Secret clearance

  • Demonstrated expert skills in performance tuning strategies, as well as disaster recovery strategies.

  • Deep understanding of IT operational policies and procedures within all IT core disciplines

  • Ability to manage and lead hardware and software installation projects to completion.

  • Proficiency with all IT Operations Remote Monitoring performance tools.

  • Strong knowledge of networking and storage technologies.

  • Ability to create architectural diagrams, rack elevations, and other visual aids for documentation.

  • Proven track record in managing hardware, IT infrastructure, and leading teams.

  • Strong bias for automation and experience using at least one automation platform and scripting language (Python, Bash, Ansible, etc)

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experience working in DoD NIPR/SIPR/DDIL environments.

  • Experience with DoD Compliance (STIG/RMF) and authorization to operate procedures.

  • Containerization and virtualization platform deployment experience.

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in field like Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other related field.

The likely salary range for this position is $127,500 - $172,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
