Job summary

State of Nevada (NV) is recruiting an IT Professional 3 to serve as the Department Information Security Officer in Las Vegas, Carson City or Reno. The role leads the IT Security Team and advances the department’s security program, guiding modernization and compliance with HIPAA, CIS Controls, and other regulations.

The position requires independent work, strategic judgment, and the ability to supervise staff while coordinating with IT stakeholders across the agency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and three years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position, one year at journey level; or equivalent combination.
• Ability to lead staff and develop security policies aligned with HIPAA and CIS Controls.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Department Information Security Officer and senior security authority under the IT Chief.
• Lead the IT Security Team and oversee the department’s security program.
• Develop, standardize, and mature security capabilities across systems and platforms.
• Guide modernization efforts and ensure compliance with State/Federal regulations.
