Vir Biotechnology, Inc. is seeking a Senior IT Security & Infrastructure Engineer (Temp Staff) to join our IT team in San Francisco.

This senior, hands‑on role blends infrastructure engineering with security operations to secure and optimize endpoints, cloud services, servers, networking, and tools. You will collaborate across IT, Security, and vendors to drive operational excellence, automation, and robust security controls in a regulated biotech environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, cybersecurity, or related enterprise IT role.
• Experience with Windows, macOS, Windows Server, and Linux environments.
• Cloud technologies experience, preferably AWS, with networking, IAM, and endpoint management.
• Hands-on experience investigating security events, responding to incidents, and remediating vulnerabilities.
• Experience with enterprise security technologies (endpoint protection, privileged access, firewalls).
• Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python).
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across multiple systems and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST/CIS) and relevant certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement, maintain, and enhance infrastructure across cloud, on‑premises, and hybrid environments.
• Administer and support Windows, macOS, Windows Server, and Linux environments including patching and monitoring.
• Support AWS infrastructure, enterprise networking, virtualization, and remote access technologies.
• Manage identity, access management, endpoint technologies, and core infrastructure services.
• Troubleshoot complex issues spanning endpoints, applications, cloud services, networks, and third‑party systems.
• Develop automation and scripting solutions to improve efficiency and visibility.
• Execute changes per security, architecture, and change management standards and document procedures.
