Job summary

The American Medical Association (AMA) is seeking a Sr IT Security Engineer to join the Infrastructure Ops team in a remote capacity spanning Chicago IL and other states. You will design, implement and maintain security platforms to secure cloud and on‑premise apps, and you will manage security tools such as SIEM, firewalls, DLP, and WAF to protect systems.

Responsibilities include policy development, threat detection, incident response, risk assessments, and security reporting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Security Operations experience is required
• Demonstrated progression towards one or more security certifications (e.g., GCIH, GCIA, CISSP/CISA, CISM)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to business leaders

Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor, analyze, block, and respond to malware and threats; serve as technical point of contact during incidents
• Conduct operational threat hunting to identify incidents in the AMA environment
• Perform threat modeling and risk assessments for cloud services
• Monitor and audit networks, on‑premise and cloud systems; document incident response procedures
