Our client, a leading provider of technology enabled risk, benefits and claims management solutions, is seeking a Senior IT Software QA Advisor for a remote, contract-to-hire opportunity.
Job Summary:
The Senior QA Analyst will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing tests to ensure the quality and reliability of software applications. This role requires expertise in manual testing, SQL/Oracle, and troubleshooting, along with a strong ability to analyze user needs and lead test planning efforts. The ideal candidate should be a detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills and leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, maintain, test, and debug software applications and test scripts.
- Assess compatibility and impact of new programs on existing systems.
- Develop expertise in one or more specific system functions and take ownership of related testing processes.
- Define system scope, objectives, and test plans to validate complex implementations.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior Quality Assurance Analysts.
- Establish and enforce quality assurance procedures, standards, and reporting metrics.
- Analyze user needs and lead the design of tests to validate end-user requirements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and carrier-specific requirements.
- Assist in the professional development of junior team members.
- Stay updated on the latest quality assurance tools and industry best practices.
- Deliver high-quality customer service and support the organization's quality programs.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of overall IT experience, including at least 4 years in testing/QA and 2 years specializing in business application testing.
- Leadership experience, including leading and participating in project meetings, tracking product defects, and reviewing testing documentation.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with SQL and Oracle databases.
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic experience with UNIX environments.
- Experience using Smartsheet for project tracking and reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of client/server applications and claims management systems (preferred).
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- High level of self-motivation and demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience creating and delivering presentations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong leadership, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- End-to-End (E2E) testing experience.
- API testing experience.
- Experience with Progress Language.
- Familiarity with Quality Center/ALM.
- Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
- Familiarity with SharePoint for document and project management.
- Insurance industry experience is highly desirable.
