Job summary

Washington State Department of Commerce is seeking an IT Project Manager Senior/Specialist to drive strategic, high-impact technology initiatives across the state. This role leads the OneWA ERP modernization and partners with the statewide PMO to deliver enterprise-wide solutions that improve services for Washington residents.

You will mentor project managers, translate executive vision into executable plans, and ensure governance, risk management, and compliance across complex programs.

Qualifications

• Eight (8) years of combined IT experience in project management, policy, and system administration.
• Associate’s degree route requires six (6) years; Bachelor’s degree route requires four (4) years of related experience.
• Experience leading IT professionals or teams as a technical lead.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, high-visibility technology projects from planning through delivery.
• Establish and maintain project governance, reporting, and standards for leadership.
• Mentor project managers and team leads to elevate agency PM practices.
• Translate executive vision into actionable project plans, requirements, and solutions.
• Manage risks, ensure compliance with statewide IT governance, and protect critical services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners on enterprise transformations.
