Job summary

Washington State Department of Labor & Industries in Tumwater, WA seeks an IT Network and Security Engineer on the NetOps team to manage statewide network and security infrastructure across on‑prem, hosted, and cloud environments.

You will design and implement firewall and VPN configurations, maintain core switches, monitor incidents, and coordinate with WaTech and vendors to keep systems secure and available.

Qualifications

• Ten years of professional IT experience in a large IT environment, including network and security administration.
• Education may substitute for IT experience up to four years for a bachelor’s degree and up to two years for an associate’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Manage firewall configurations and ACLs across agency networks.
• Develop and maintain VPN configurations and remote access.
• Design and upgrade statewide network solutions and core networking hardware and software.
• Coordinate changes with WaTech and other agencies; lead problem-solving efforts on statewide issues.
