Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to lead mission-critical infrastructure modernization projects for the U.S. Coast Guard.

This remote role demands coordination with USCG stakeholders, engineers, and vendors to ensure successful hardware refreshes, OOB deployments, and VSAT transitions. Ideal candidates have PMP or equivalent federal certification, 12+ years in IT project management, and proven experience with DoD/DHS/USCG environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 12+ years of IT project management experience.
• Experience managing large federal contracts or enterprise IT deployments (DoD/DHS/USCG).
• Experience deploying Out-of-Band (OOB) management architectures for remote networks.
• Strong communication with executive government stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan, and execute multiple parallel IT infrastructure projects from initiation through closure, focusing on USCG network hardware refreshes and OOB deployments.
• Define project scope, build WBS, maintain schedules, and manage critical paths to avoid bottlenecks.
• Identify and mitigate technical, logistical, and timeline risks; create contingency plans to minimize downtime.
• Serve as primary contact for USCG leadership, technical leads, and vendors; ensure SLAs and timelines.
• Manage budgets, forecast needs, and coordinate procurement for global network hardware and services.
• Coordinate tasks of network engineers, field technicians, site readiness coordinators, and security teams.
• Quality-check all deliverables, engineering docs, change tickets, and MSRs.
• Drive efficiencies by applying best practices in IT project management and federal standards.
