Job summary

Les Olson IT seeks a Senior Engineer 3 to lead complex IT initiatives across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. You will mentor less experienced engineers, design scalable solutions, and drive automation to reduce incidents and improve customer outcomes.

The role emphasizes security, identity management, and proactive operational improvements, with a focus on modernizing infrastructure and delivering reliable services for diverse client environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of IT experience with hands-on infra, cloud, and systems engineering.
• Strong customer-facing consulting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, support, and troubleshoot complex on-premises, cloud, and hybrid IT environments.
• Design, implement, and maintain Windows Server environments utilizing current Microsoft-supported server platforms.
• Design and support Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID environments, including hybrid identity solutions.
• Administer and support Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and cloud productivity platforms.
• Design, deploy, and maintain virtualization environments utilizing VMware and Hyper‑V technologies.
• Configure and support Azure infrastructure and cloud services.
• Design and support enterprise storage, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
• Troubleshoot advanced networking issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VPN, VLAN, and WAN technologies.
• Support server, storage, virtualization, identity, and cloud infrastructure across diverse customer environments.
• Design and implement security best practices across customer environments.
• Configure and support Defender, endpoint security, MFA, and related security technologies.
• Conduct security reviews and remediation planning for risks and vulnerabilities.
• Assist customers with security modernization initiatives and security-focused projects.
• Ensure engineering solutions align with security best practices.
• Develop scripts and automation using PowerShell and other platforms.
• Identify repetitive tasks and implement automation to improve efficiency.
• Design scalable solutions to reduce manual effort and improve service delivery.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools and automation platforms to improve outcomes.
• Analyze recurring incidents and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrences.
• Partner with Service Desk, Engineering, Security, and Operations to reduce ticket volume.
• Identify trends and propose improvements and automation opportunities.
• Contribute to operational maturity for reliability and scalability.
