SENIOR IT BUSINESS SYSTEMS ANALYST

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior IT Business Analystsupports the development, maintenance, and modernization of business applications and enterprise systems. This role is ideal for an experienced software developer who enjoys solving complex problems and is ready to expand beyond coding into solution analysis, business engagement, and technical coordination.

This role work directly with business stakeholders and distributed development teams to understand requirements, troubleshoot application and data issues, recommend practical solutions, and drive enhancements and projects through successful delivery. The role requires strong hands-on development and SQL skills, with the ability to analyze, debug, and modify existing applications when needed

The successful candidate will be a resourceful, curious, and independent problem solver who can quickly learn unfamiliar systems, think critically under pressure, communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and provide technical guidance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

Application Development, Support & Problem Solving:

  • Develop, enhance, maintain, and support business applications, ERP systems, integrations, and custom software solutions.
  • Analyze, debug, and modify application code, SQL/database objects, integrations, and system configurations to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Investigate production and application issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement or coordinate effective resolutions.
  • Work directly with business users to understand problems, analyze business and technical requirements, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Support system upgrades, deployments, production incidents, and ongoing application maintenance.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to application reliability, performance, and maintainability.

Technical Coordination & Delivery:

  • Coordinate day-to-day technical activities between business stakeholders, offshore development teams, vendors, and internal resources.
  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable work items and provide clarification throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to offshore development resources, including reviewing technical approaches and helping troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Review deliverables and code changes as appropriate, identify risks or gaps, and help drive projects and enhancements through successful completion.
  • Communicate technical issues, options, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Take ownership of assigned initiatives and proactively elevate risks, dependencies, and blockers when appropriate.

Solutions Analysis & Delivery:

  • Participate in requirements analysis, solution design, estimation, development, testing, deployment, and post-production support.
  • Evaluate solution alternatives and recommend practical approaches based on business needs, technical feasibility, maintainability, risk, and effort.
  • Support integrations, reporting solutions, workflow automation, and ERP-related initiatives.
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions and contribute hands-on development when needed.
  • Apply sound SDLC and Agile practices to ensure requirements, testing, release readiness, and production support are appropriately addressed.

Business Engagement & Continuous Improvement:

  • Build effective working relationships with business stakeholders and develop an understanding of their processes, systems, and technology needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes through application enhancements, automation, integration, and technology.
  • Create and maintain appropriate requirements, solution, process, and technical documentation.
  • Quickly learn and support unfamiliar applications, technologies, and business processes as organizational needs evolve.
  • Contribute to strategic technology initiatives, including ERP modernization, application modernization, digital transformation, and other emerging technology initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience in software development, preferably developing and supporting business or enterprise applications.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, debugging, enhancing, and maintaining existing applications in addition to developing new functionality.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to understand requirements, investigate issues, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Experience working with distributed or offshore development teams, including coordinating work, clarifying requirements, reviewing deliverables, or providing technical guidance.
  • Experience participating across the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong hands‑on programming skills with the ability to read, understand, debug, modify, and troubleshoot unfamiliar application code.
  • Experience with C#/ ASP.NET enterprise application development technology stack.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, including query development, troubleshooting, stored procedures, and investigation of application/data issues.
  • Working understanding web applications, APIs, integrations, databases, and software architecture concepts.
  • Working knowledge of SDLC and Agile delivery practices, including requirements, estimation, development, testing, release/deployment, and production support.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to systematically identify root causes, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical solutions.

  • Strong critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem‑solving abilities, particularly when working with unfamiliar or ambiguous problems.
  • Self‑motivated and resourceful, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability and the ability to work effectively with limited supervision.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with and provide technical guidance to 3rd party development resources.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and competing priorities.
  • Curious and adaptable, with the ability and willingness to quickly learn unfamiliar applications, technologies, and business processes.

Preferred Qualifcations:

  • Experience with enterprise integrations, workflow automation, reporting, or data integration tools.
  • Experience with application modernization, ERP migration, cloud migration, or digital transformation initiatives.
