Job summary

Alpha Omega in Washington, DC is seeking a Senior IT Architect & Program Manager to lead end-to-end enterprise IT initiatives for a federal client. You will deliver architectural design, security validation, and project management across the full lifecycle.

The role requires strong PM and technical leadership, experience with cloud, security standards, and cross-functional teams. A mix of Agile/Waterfall with governance and risk-management is expected.

Qualifications

• 10+ years combined IT architecture and large-scale IT program management experience.
• Proven system design, cloud migration, and enterprise integration experience.
• Experience managing multi-year IT programs with budgets, procurement, and performance tracking.
• Strong understanding of federal IT acquisition processes, PMBOK/Agile, and cybersecurity compliance.
• Ability to make architectural calls balancing immediate needs with long-term debt reduction.
• Rigorous in tracking progress, budgets, and ensuring on-time delivery.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams toward a unified project goal.

Responsibilities

• Define high-level technical blueprints and system architecture to meet complex operational requirements.
• Ensure proposed solutions align with enterprise IT strategy, security standards, and federal compliance (NIST/FISMA).
• Perform technical trade-off analyses, evaluating cost, performance, and maintainability.
• Manage the full project lifecycle, including scope, schedule, budget, and resources.
• Establish and maintain project governance, ensuring milestones and managing dependencies across teams.
• Implement Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid methodologies as appropriate to mission requirements.
• Proactively identify technical, schedule, and resource risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Serve as the bridge between engineering and non-technical stakeholders, translating decisions.
• Oversee vendor contracts and deliverables to ensure compliance with contract specs.
