Job summary

Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is seeking a Senior IT Applications Engineer to own and advance the firm’s document management, case management and integration platforms. You will guide roadmaps, set governance, and ensure secure operations across multiple offices in a hybrid work model.

You will lead complex implementations, coordinate with attorneys and IT leadership, and mentor junior staff while driving automation and modernization using legal AI and cloud services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
• At least 8 years of experience supporting enterprise business applications, including 5+ years supporting legal technology platforms within a law firm environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading application implementations, upgrades, migrations, and related projects, including management of third-party vendors and consulting partners.
• Strong experience designing and supporting enterprise application integrations, APIs, web services, databases, SQL, and related networking technologies.
• Experience with legal technology platforms such as iManage Cloud, Aderant, Elite 3E, Litera, Intapp, Relativity, and other law firm applications.
• Strong project management, analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with users and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Proven ability to work effectively both as a team leader and collaborative team member.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical owner and SME for document management, case management, legal workflow, and business platforms, providing end-user support and senior-level escalation.
• Develop and maintain application roadmaps aligned with firm objectives and technology strategy, establishing architecture, governance, security, and lifecycle standards.
• Oversee configuration, administration, monitoring, maintenance, performance, reliability, and support of firm applications, including incident troubleshooting and vendor coordination.
• Design and maintain enterprise integrations, APIs, data services, and automation connecting legal, financial, business, and cloud platforms for data synchronization.
• Identify opportunities to improve business processes through automation, Copilot, legal AI, and emerging technologies.
• Lead application implementations, upgrades, migrations, and modernization projects including requirements, testing, deployment, and risk management.
• Partner with attorneys and IT leadership to understand business needs and translate into technical solutions.
• Mentor Application Analysts and IT staff, develop technical documentation, and promote knowledge sharing.
