Acara Solutions, Inc. seeks a Sr Principal Optical Infrared Systems Integration & Test Engineer to lead end-to-end test strategy and system characterization for space-based IR imaging systems.

You will work at the intersection of optical, electrical, and software domains, guiding teams and engaging customers to deliver high-performance aerospace solutions. The role emphasizes hands-on testing, leadership, and collaboration with customers to develop proposals, cost estimates, and growth

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EE, ME, physics, or systems engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of test experience in space and/or aerospace.
• Minimum 8 years of experience with IR technology.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of comprehensive test strategies, including requirements definition, test plans, and detailed procedures.
• Perform imaging system testing and characterization, including optical, spectral, and performance measurements.
• Execute testing in lab and cleanroom environments, diagnosing and resolving issues across electrical, software, and optical systems.
• Analyze and process image and spectral data, delivering clear, accurate reports and insights.
• Develop and maintain MATLAB scripts to automate data analysis and improve testing efficiency.
• Lead AI&T activities and technical teams, supporting task planning, prioritization, and successful program execution.
• Interface directly with customers, delivering technical presentations, status updates, and supporting proposal development, cost estimates, and growth initiatives.
