Cummins Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Law to join our team, primarily remote with travel to Columbus and Indianapolis.

The role focuses on patent counsel activities, including prosecution, portfolio strategy, and collaboration with engineering and business units to drive intellectual property initiatives. The successful candidate will advise senior leaders, manage outside counsel, and contribute to a global IP program, leveraging AI tools and industry experience to protect Cummins’

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in one of the specified disciplines or equivalent experience.
• Licensed to practice before the USPTO; may require licensing for export controls.
• Significant IP experience including leadership and global prosecution.

Responsibilities

• Provide patent preparation and prosecution advice and portfolio management.
• Manage patent prosecution and support IP strategy; file US and other jurisdictions.
• Lead internal patenting committees and advise senior leaders on IP matters.
• Identify new patentable ideas through invention disclosures; coordinate outside counsel.
• Manage outside counsel relationships and support large/complex matters.
• Collaborate with engineering and business teams to align priorities.
• Instruct and supervise outside counsel and consultants as needed.
