Job summary

Reed Smith LLP seeks an IP Paralegal to support attorneys and clients in domestic and international trademark and patent matters. This role emphasizes filing, docketing, and coordinating with foreign associates while upholding confidentiality and high-quality service.

Ideal candidates have 7–10 years IP experience, familiarity with USPTO systems, and strong MS Office skills. Local office work is expected with occasional after-hours filings and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Seven to ten years of IP practice experience required.
• IP training and/or paralegal certificate preferred.
• Knowledge of USPTO Patent Center and patent filing process.
• Knowledge of PCT documentation and filing requirements.
• General office and administrative experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, file, and support prosecution and maintenance of domestic and international trademark applications and portfolios, including Madrid Protocol filings and renewals.
• Prepare, file, and support prosecution and maintenance of domestic and international patent applications and portfolios, including Patent Center filings.
• Conduct trademark searches using relevant trademark databases and research tools.
• Assist with responses to USPTO actions and TTAB proceedings.
• Maintain IP docketing records and monitor deadlines.
• Coordinate with foreign associates, clients, and internal team members on international IP matters.
• Proactively address client needs and ensure high-quality client service.
• Use IP docketing systems such as PATTSY; familiarity with PracticeLink is a plus.
