Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Senior IP Network Engineer to design, build, and secure a large-scale, highly available network spanning data centers and WANs. You will focus on resilient infrastructure, automation, and operational efficiency.

The role requires hands-on experience with VxLAN/EVPN, BGP/OSPF/MPLS, firewall policy management, and multi-vendor environments (Cisco, Juniper). Strong scripting and Linux skills are valued.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands-on experience in service provider or large-scale enterprise networks
• Expertise in data center networking including VxLAN, EVPN, and leaf-spine architectures
• Deep knowledge of firewall technologies including policy management and segmentation approaches
• Strong routing background including BGP, OSPF, and MPLS in production environments
• Experience supporting multi-vendor network platforms including Cisco and Juniper
• Scripting or automation experience using Python, Ansible, or similar
• Comfortable working within Linux based systems
• Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and independently lead technical initiatives
• Strong communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

• Design and support modern data center network architectures including VxLAN/EVPN alongside traditional Layer 2 designs
• Manage and enhance enterprise firewall infrastructure with policy creation and segmentation
• Architect and maintain routing across a backbone network using BGP and other dynamic routing protocols
• Lead network automation efforts including provisioning, monitoring, and remediation workflows
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and operations teams to evaluate new technologies and drive continuous improvements
• Participate in an on-call rotation and support scheduled maintenance activities
