Job summary

University of Central Florida's Technology Transfer Office seeks a Senior Licensing Associate to manage IP protection, licensing negotiations, and outreach to industry partners. You will coordinate with legal teams, researchers, and sponsors to promote commercialization of discoveries.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in licensing or tech transfer, strong communication, and proven business development capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Master’s degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Civil, Electrical) or a related physical science field preferred.
• 3+ years of demonstrated success in drafting, negotiating, and implementing legal agreements.
• Strong customer service orientation with experience collaborating with faculty, legal teams, and external partners.
• Proven business development and finance acumen.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.

Responsibilities

• Manages protection and licensing of a portion of the IP portfolio including patents, trademarks and copyrights.
• Drafts and negotiates license agreements and related documents (MTA, inter-institutional, NDAs).
• Assesses new technologies disclosed to Technology Transfer and identifies commercial uses.
• Reviews and edits promotional materials and leads outreach to industry partners.
• Coordinates IP matters between contract manager, general counsel, PI, and sponsors/external counsel.
• Attracts and cultivates relationships with researchers, entrepreneurs and industry partners to drive licensing deals.
• Supervises IP specialists, licensing assistants, students and interns; conducts workshops and presentations.
