Job summary

King Technology, Inc. in Minnesota is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the technical direction of its first company-owned IoT device and companion mobile app.

You will own end-to-end architecture across firmware, hardware, and cloud, guide hardware supplier selection, and drive secure OTA updates while delivering a native iOS/Android experience and robust telemetry to Azure. The role demands hands-on leadership, deep C/C++ embedded experience, and a track record shipping connected products

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
• 15+ years of professional experience in embedded systems or IoT engineering, with leadership.
• Experience delivering connected products spanning firmware, mobile, and cloud.

Responsibilities

• Define and own end-to-end IoT device and app architecture across firmware, hardware, and cloud.
• Identify and evaluate hardware suppliers, modules, and platforms; lead bring-up.
• Develop firmware in C/C++ on ARM Cortex-M/ESP32 with RTOS.
• Interface with sensors via I2C/SPI/UART and develop drivers.
• Implement secure OTA updates and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with Azure-based backend to enable telemetry and device management.
• Develop native iOS and Android apps that communicate with the device and cloud.
• Mentor engineers and set technical standards.
