Job summary

Hexmodal in New York City is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to own the full lifecycle of IoT product electronics, from architecture to high-volume manufacturing. You will collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to bring connected products to mass production.

The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, V&V, DFM/DFT, and field issue resolution, reporting to Head of Hardware Engineering. This is an in-person, on-site role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8–12+ years in electrical/hardware engineering with high-volume IoT experience.
• Experience designing wireless IoT devices with power optimization.
• Strong RF design knowledge with MCUs and digital circuits.
• Hands-on lab skills and familiarity with test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Own system architecture and circuit design for IoT products (battery and AC-powered).
• Design PCBAs with MCUs, RF circuits, and standard interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C).
• Lead DFM/DFT practices for high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Lead or support V&V testing across electrical, functional, and environmental domains.
• Manage regulatory testing and certifications (FCC, CE, UL, IC, EMC).
• Hands-on bring-up, soldering, and use of lab equipment; collaborate with mechanical eng.
• Support NPI and work with contract manufacturers toward volume production.
• Own RMA processes and perform root cause analysis for field issues.
