Job summary

Copeland seeks an experienced Senior Firmware Engineer to lead the design and optimization of low‑power, connected firmware for IoT devices. You will bridge edge hardware with cloud infra, architect secure firmware, and collaborate with hardware, systems, and cloud teams from bring‑up to mass production.

Responsibilities include real‑time C/C++ development on constrained MCUs, implementing Wi‑Fi/BLE/Cellular stacks, device drivers, power optimization, secure boot, OTA updates, and HIL testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, CS, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of embedded C/C++ firmware for IoT/edge devices.
• RTOS experience with FreeRTOS, Zephyr, ThreadX or similar.
• Wireless tech and security standards (Wi‑Fi, BLE, TLS, AES, RSA).
• Hardware debugging with scopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, JTAG/SWD.
• Git, CMake/Make, GCC, CI/CD, and static analysis tools.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, and maintain production‑grade C/C++ firmware for resource‑constrained MCUs.
• Implement and optimize low‑power wireless stacks (Wi‑Fi, BLE, LTE‑M/NB‑IoT, Thread/Zigbee).
• Write and integrate device drivers (I2C, SPI, UART, ADC, PWM, DMA, flash).
• Analyze and maximize battery longevity via power management strategies.
• Implement secure boot, TLS, OTA firmware updates, and crypto acceleration.
• Use RTOSs (FreeRTOS/Zephyr/ThreadX) for multithreaded apps and HIL testing.
• Support factory test fixtures and mass production testing protocols.
• Mentor junior engineers and enforce coding standards.
