Job summary

Copeland is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to lead design and optimization of low-power, connected firmware for next‑gen IoT devices, linking edge hardware with cloud infrastructure.

You will architect secure embedded software and collaborate with hardware, systems, and cloud teams from board bring‑up through manufacturing, ensuring performance and reliability.

Requires 5+ years in embedded C/C++, RTOS, wireless tech, and robust debugging in a hybrid role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of embedded C/C++ firmware development for IoT or edge devices.
• Proven experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS/Zephyr/ThreadX or similar).
• Hands-on wireless tech experience and security standards (TLS, mTLS, AES).
• Strong hardware debugging skills with scopes, analyzers, JTAG/SWD.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, and maintain firmware for resource-constrained MCUs (ARM Cortex-M, ESP32, RISC-V).
• Implement low-power wireless stacks and protocols (WiFi, BLE, LTE-M/NB-IoT, Thread/Zigbee; MQTT/CoAP/HTTP).
• Develop device drivers for I2C, SPI, UART, ADC, PWM, DMA, flash memory.
• Collaborate across HW, systems, and cloud teams from bring-up to mass production.
• Drive security, OTA updates, and MISRA C adherence; mentor juniors.
