Job summary

Wollborg Michelson Recruiting seeks an experienced Investment Accountant to handle investment accounting across statutory, GAAP, and NAIC requirements. The role covers monthly close, reconciliations, reporting, audit support, and process improvements while ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with Treasury, Actuarial, Tax, Compliance, and IT teams to strengthen controls and drive data quality.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years of progressive accounting or finance experience with investment accounting.
• Experience with statutory, GAAP, NAIC reporting and regulatory reporting.
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, SOX or similar frameworks, and audit support.
• Ability to prepare executive-ready analyses and communicate complex matters clearly.
• Experience in a regulated insurance or financial services environment (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly investment accounting close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review statutory, GAAP, and NAIC investment schedules and regulatory reports.
• Ensure data accuracy, proper classification, and clear documentation supporting accounting results.
• Monitor regulatory requirements and assess impact on accounting processes.
• Support internal and external audits by coordinating requests and resolving issues.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and document process improvements.
• Collaborate with Treasury, Tax, Compliance, Technology, and other stakeholders.
