Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct complex civil, administrative, and criminal investigations involving workers’ compensation fraud, uninsured employers, and other violations of the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Act.
  • Gather, preserve, and analyze evidence; interview witnesses and involved parties; research records and databases; and prepare complete investigative reports and case files.
  • Develop cases for administrative enforcement or referral for prosecution, including preparing petitions, subpoenas, search-warrant materials, and other investigative documents.
  • Represent the Special Investigations Unit in hearings and provide testimony as required.
  • Conduct onsite employer visits and public education activities to promote compliance and prevent uninsured workplace injuries.
