Job summary

Professional Alternatives is seeking an Inventory Manager in Cypress Houston to lead a manufacturing warehouse team and ensure accurate ERP transactions. The role emphasizes ramping up facilities, implementing 5S, and controlling COGS and WIP while aligning lead times with the master production schedule.

You will manage daily operations across receiving, putaway, picking, and shipping, drive process improvements, and build SOPs to scale production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in SCM, Industrial Engineering/Distribution or related.
• 5+ years as Inventory/Warehouse Manager in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Power BI and Business Central ERP.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret large data sets and optimize safety stock and reorder points across sites.

Responsibilities

• Build and develop an inventory team through recruiting, onboarding, ongoing training, and hands-on coaching to ensure accuracy across physical warehouse operations and ERP transactions.
• Develop and implement standardized operating procedures to support consistency, efficiency, and scalability as production volume increases.
• Establish performance expectations, evaluate team results, and promote a culture focused on accountability, safety, and transactional accuracy.
• Oversee daily warehouse activities, including receiving, shipping, putaway, and picking, while proactively identifying workflow issues that could disrupt production.
• Resolve inventory discrepancies, logistics challenges, and ERP system errors by analyzing data, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
• Apply 5S principles to improve warehouse organization, space utilization, and picking and putaway efficiency.
• Maintain accurate ERP item records and collaborate with Planning and Procurement to ensure lead times, safety stock levels, and reorder points align with actual operational needs.
• Review material requirements planning (MRP) signals to align inventory availability with the master production schedule and address potential supply gaps before they affect production.
• Manage cycle counting and coordinate inventory audits to reconcile physical inventory with system records and maintain accurate financial reporting.
• Ensure all inventory movements are recorded accurately and promptly in the ERP system.
• Understand and monitor the financial impact of inventory transactions, including COGS, WIP, and inventory valuation.
• Maintain compliance with SOX requirements, internal controls, and audit standards to support accurate reporting and audit readiness.
