Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation is seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst in Materials & Supplies Accounting, within the Controller's Department. You will apply strong technical accounting knowledge to ensure accurate inventory accounting and GAAP compliance, partnering with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance and auditors to resolve issues and support financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Three or more years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in a related field.
• Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and finance principles, practices, and procedures.
• Experience with financial systems and advanced Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot and Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex materials and supplies accounting and analysis, including review of inventory balances, transactions, valuation, reserves, adjustments, and activity.
• Ensure inventory-related accounting complies with GAAP, FERC, policies and internal controls and meets close deadlines.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, variance analyses, and management reporting; research unusual items and resolve reconciling differences.
• Analyze inventory data and trends to identify risks, root causes, and process improvement opportunities.
• Support accounting for excess, obsolete, slow-moving, or impaired materials and coordinate with partners.
